In recognition of one doctor's extraordinary service, Lynn and William E. Hutton III of Palm Beach have donated a Sonar racing sailboat, the highest-class sailboat a paralympic can sail, to Shake-A-Leg Miami. A dedication ceremony was held in honor of Dr. Barth Green, chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami's Leonard Miller School of Medicine. Green specializes in the surgical management of complex spine and spinal cord injuries and disorders. He is also a co-founder of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and chairman and co-founder of Shake-A-Leg Miami.
The 23-foot sailboat, appropriately named ''The Green Team,'' joins Shake-A-Leg's fleet of 47 boats. The ceremony was followed by a day of sailing and a picnic lunch on Biscayne Bay.
''We are extremely grateful to the Huttons for their very kind donation. It is very exciting to have a Sonar racing sailboat added to our fleet, and we are honored to have it as part of our team knowing it was donated on behalf of Dr. Green's services,'' said Harry Horgan, chief executive and co-founder of Shake-A-Leg Miami. ``Like Dr. Green, The Green Team will empower and inspire people with physical and developmental challenges for many years to come.''
