The FAU Office for Students with
Disabilities (OSD) and the Career Development
Center is collaborating with Stand Among
Friends, a nonprofit organization serving people
with disabilities, to create a much needed
resource.
OSD provides services to allow students
with disabilities to achieve academic success
and reach their goal of obtaining a college
degree. These services include academic
accommodations, assistive technology training,
learning strategies instruction, counseling, and
advocacy.
The Career Development Center promotes
a practical developmental approach towards
helping students find a self actualizing career
direction, one in which individuals find success
and fulfillment.
However, despite the best efforts of FAU
resources, the employment rate for students
with disabilities has remained low, and it has
become apparent that a more intensive
approach is needed.
Stand Among Friends seeks to bridge this
gap by providing jobs skills training, resume
and interview critiques, job coaching and direct
placements toward the ultimate goal of
rewarding and productive careers.

Employment (GATE) offers numerous services
that open the door to the working world for
